Apart from that me and my fiancee almost died in the mountains last day from incredibly awful storm. And apart from that my iPhone got so wet that I tried to dry it all day ( now it's working, but the "off" button does nothing so I can't lock it)... so apart from all that I feel very alive today. And back to rigging I wanted to post my attempt at the rigging challenge Javier Solsona made on his site rigging101 . The first one is about rigging hands. I wanted to share my attempt here. Here is the video capture from it:
and the maya file if you want to disasemble it and look how I've done it:
1. All the available attributes are on the main hand control. You can flip the palm, you can make it roll... twist, all these things.
2. The controls for the fingers control the curl, bend, twist.
3. The last phalanx of the fingers has "pin" attribute, that's basically ik control for the tip of the fingers. Very useful for motions like pushing something like buttons.
4. Last feature is the possibility to control the actual pivot points of the rig , where all the twisting, flipping etc. happens.
5. There are lot more things that could be done - for example implementing metacarpal bones, which add incredible amount of aliveness :) And a few more things I could done better...

From 1st to 6th of May we were on a trip to Serbia, Montenegro and Croatia. So much beautiful places, and so little time to see them all! Here are some of the places where we have been - Dubrovnik, Kotor, Budva...
One of my favorite directors - Guy Ritchie , with the incredible cast of Robert Downey Jr., Rachel McAdams, Jude Law and Mark Strong are making a film about Sherlock Holmes. See the trailer here:
It looks like a lot of fun! This story has so many adaptations, but it would be nice to see Guy Ritchie's one.
Today at 3 p.m. ET you can watch its first appearance in front of public. It will be webcast on Harvard University's site. You can read more info here:
